RULES AND GUIDELINES
Ocracoke Island’s annual July 4 parade is a classic, small-town celebration. Visitors and locals are encouraged to participate with floats, decorated bikes, baby strollers, golf carts or whatever.
The parade is rain or shine. In case of extreme weather, please listen WOVV 90.1 FM (Ocracoke’s community radio), or check www.Visitocracokenc.com or Facebook for updates/changes/cancellations.
Please be respectful, be safe and remember that there will be people along the route.
No shooting water or water balloons at parade participants. This is dangerous and anyone caught doing this by Hyde County Sheriff deputies will be fined.
The Hyde County Sheriff’s Department reminds us that open containers of alcoholic beverages are not allowed in a motor vehicle (including golf carts).
Line-up will begin at 3pm. Please pick up a number at Ocracoke Station. Line-up is on Hwy. 12 just beyond Ocracoke Oyster Co. Fall in behind emergency vehicles.
Parade begins at 4pm.
Judging location is at Ocracoke Lightship Realty on Lighthouse Road. Salute, bow, etc. Please allow time for judges to get a good look, and display your number.
Judges’ decisions are final.
Do not dismantle your floats in the NPS parking lot.
Prizes will be awarded from the stage at Books to be Red at 6:45pm.
Entries that have not registered will not be judged but are welcome to join our parade.
